چکیده

Isomerization of aldoses to ketoses is an essential step in carbohydrate valorization routes biorefineries produce a wide variety bioproducts. In this work, selective isomerization into was investigated using different commercial Brønsted basic anion resins at low temperature conditions. Weak and strong were tested under reaction Amberlite IRA-900 Amberlyst A-26 (strong resins) IRA-67 A-21 (weak assess their catalytic properties. Strong provided high yields fructose. also the sugar monosaccharides conventionally present lignocellulosic biomass (xylose, arabinose, galactose, glucose mannose) aiming explore performance material hemicellulose-derived mixtures. Very promising observed for IRA-900, yielding fructose selectivity higher than 75% yield 27% reaction. Notably, anionic not suitable reuse cycles, although use organic cosolvents, specifically ethanol, improved reusability resins.

Selective separation of ketoses and aldoses by chromatography on a polyethyleneimine ion exchanger

One of serious problems of preparative carbohydrate chemistry is the separation of aldoses from ketoses. Of a large number of chromatographic procedures for separation of aldoses and ketoses described in the literature, only the use of anion exchangers in the bisulfite form afforded satisfactory resolution. Samuelson and Sjoström [1] separated fructose from glucose and mannose on a Dowex 2 ion-...

Catalytic Isomerization of Biomass‐Derived Aldoses: A Review

Selected aldohexoses (D-glucose, D-mannose, and D-galactose) and aldopentoses (D-xylose, L-arabinose, and D-ribose) are readily available components of biopolymers. Isomerization reactions of these substances are very attractive as carbon-efficient processes to broaden the portfolio of abundant monosaccharides. This review focuses on the chemocatalytic isomerization of aldoses into the correspo...
